Transvaalbuurt

Logline:

Love, lies, feuds and blood brothers across continents of the Nationalist far right. It all happens in the Transvaalbuurt.

Nearly every city and town in the Netherlands has one, a neighbourhood called Transvaal. Named and created in honour of the Afrikaner statesmen who fought for independence from British colonial rule in South Africa at the turn of the 20th Century, the deeds of those men in creating the modern apartheid state, have long been forgotten. A creative documentary developed in partnership with the Chair of South African Literature, Culture and History, University of Amsterdam.
